What is Kinesiology (VIDEO)
Kinesiology, literally the study of body movement, encompasses holistic health disciplines, which use gentle, manual, muscle monitoring to determine information about a person’s well being and to remove stress being held in a person’s system. Combining Western techniques with Eastern wisdom its foundations extend back thousand of years.

Why Would I See a Kinesiologist?
Kinesiology helps you discover the root cause of an issue in your life, assists you to move through and release these blockages and get on with the fun and inspiring life you are meant to be living. Sometimes when mainstream or other complementary therapies haven’t worked, Kinesiology has been known to be the magic bullet to finally shift and let go of what’s been stuck and affecting you.

A Kinesiologist’s role is to assist you by clearing stress that continues to be held from long forgotten incidents, from your system. Our bodies never forget these incidents as our survival-oriented structure means we hold all memories, particularly negative experiences, somewhere in our system. Awareness is the first step in being able to shift problems. Once you become aware of what your emotional triggers are, you have the ability to re-evaluate the event and circumstances surrounding it. Using the context of your current life experience, you are now in a position to change your response and choose a new and more life affirming response.

In doing this, we’re able to stop the pattern of recreating the same situation over and over again, thereby being able to move forward in your life.

After comprehensive history taking the practitioner uses muscle monitoring to correct energy imbalances.

An unlocking muscle test indicates a disturbed energy flow – be it structural, chemical, nutritional, mental, emotional or spiritual. This stress may manifest in the person as some form of disease, an accident, poor nutritional or postural habits, an unresolved argument, personal trauma or crisis, even as a misunderstanding with others. Stresses from the past, if not dealt with, can continue to be held in the system, impacting your life today.

I like this movie trailer for E-Motion that explains what happens when we hold onto emotions and when we release them.

What Happens in a Kinesiology Session?
You lie fully clothed and face up on a massage table during the session. Early in the session we will have established the goal you want to work on. Then using the Meridian system and muscle testing we’ll discover where stress is being held in your system, what it is and the underlying cause, all connected to your goal. Blockages can then be cleared by applying any one of a variety of techniques. This allows the body to become re-balanced and move into a state that enables healing.

Throughout the balance we may use a variety of techniques to aid in the removal of blockages such as:

  • Flower Essences
  • Massaging Neuro-Lymphatic or Neuro-Vascular reflex points
  • Acupressure Point massage
  • Meridian muscle work
  • Chakra Balancing
  • Physical techniques including exercise & stretches
  • Sound or Colour Therapy
  • Crystal Therapy
  • Aromatherapy
How Does a Skype Session Work?
Skype sessions work exactly as if we were in the same room together…except we’re not!

I surrogate for you and your energetic system and then use self testing. Once I’m set up as your surrogate, everything that comes up in the session is related to you and the reason for your session. We go through and find what is blocking you in relation to your challenge, as we do in a face to face session. Then, using various techniques and resources we remove the block. This could be holding an acupuncture point, visualisation, working with your chakras and I will also get you to do the clearing technique as the same time.

There may be homework for you to do after the session to help the changes integrate (just like with a face-to-face session).

Afterwards I email you a summary of the session including images of any relevant information that came up such as cards.

Most of my clients prefer Skype sessions when they can’t get into clinic, live on the other side of the world or to just save time in their day.

What Benefits Can I Expect From Kinesiology?
Kinesiology gives you the ability to experience different perspectives on issues in your life. Some you may not have been aware of before.

After the session you can expect to feel a sense of peace around the issue we’ve been working on. Depending on how long you have had the issue you may need a few balances to really attack the issue from all angles.

You will feel a lot calmer and able to look at your situation in a different light. You may find you don’t automatically respond to a person or situation in the same way as you previously had. Almost like you gain an extra second of time to make the decision to respond differently. Sweet! Masters of Time!

How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Ahhhh the question everyone wants answered! I don’t really ike to say how long is a piece of string, so I’ll try and explain it differently. How many sessions you will need is entirely dependent on the person and what their issue is. If it is a long standing issue, 1 session, once a week for 3-4 sessions may be required. This ensures we’re able to explore the issue thoroughly from all aspects and shift it entirely. Ot it can be sorted in just one or two! To continue to experience health & wellbeing in your life, a visit to your Kinesiologist every 6-8 weeks is not uncommon. I always assess with my clients how they’re progressing and if a follow up session is needed. My goal is to teach you enough tools that you’re well equipped to tackle any future issues that pop up in your life, on your own. If you need a bit of assistance, then of course I’m here to support.
How Will I Feel After a Kinesiology Session?
Kinesiology gives you the ability to experience a different perspective around issues in your life. It’s like being able to take a big step back and see what’s really going on, rather then get caught up in what I like to call the ‘day-to-day pettiness and drama’ of our lives.

After the session you can expect to feel a sense of peace around the issue we’ve been working on. Depending on how long you have had the issue you may need a few balances to really attack and clear the issue from all angles.

Will I Cry?
I do have a knack at making people I’ve just met, cry!

Truth be told, they’re usually clients and they’ve got some big things happening in their lives which means their emotions are just under the surface, ready to be released.

If you do cry, know that you’re in good hands and in a fully supported and sacred space. It honestly makes my job easier as the feelings are right there so it’s easier to shift them.

Where Did Kinesiology Originate? (VIDEO)
Thousands of years ago humans were more in tune with their bodies. They could interpret messages the body was sending and deal with issues immediately. As we’ve moved away from this intuitive way of being, some of us need help in interpreting what our body is telling us. Initial research using Kinesiology began in the U.S. in the 1930′s and was expanded in the 1960′s by Chiropractors embracing techniques derived from Chinese Medicine. Techniques such as acupressure and meridian systems to promote physical, emotional and spiritual health. Another video which takes you through where Kinesiology came from, how it works and what muscle testing is all about.
